Chief Seattle once said, "The Earth does not belong to us, but we belong to the Earth." Many Native people in North America say that we do not inherit the Earth from our forefathers, but we borrow it from our children. Many Native Americans, most all of them keep the Earth healthy for the 7th generation in the future.
There is more wisdom than the standard Judeo-Christian traditions. There are Earth-centered religions such as the many Native American traditions and cultures, the Celtic traditions, African traditions and Australian Aborigionie traditions. There were ancient Viking and Germanic traditions.
I am not discounting anything the Jews came up with or anything Jesus said. I am just saying there is more to it than the Bible.
