Kali Ma, called the "Dark Mother," is the Hindu goddess of creation, preservation, and destruction. She is especially known in her Destroyer aspect, squatting over her dead consort, Shiva, devouring his entrails while her yoni sexually devours his lingam, penis. Kali, in this aspect is said to be "The hungry earth, which devours its own children and fattens on their corpses... " In India the experience of the Terrible Mother has been given its most grandiose form of Kali, which just is not simple imagery; it is the image of the Feminine, particularly the Maternal, for in a profound way life and birth are integrally connected to death and destruction. Kali serves as the archetypal image of the birth-and-death Mother, simultaneously the womb and tomb, giver of life as well as the devourer of her children: the identical image was portrayed in a thousand ancient religions. Current psychologists face this image with an uneasy acknowledgement of its power. Apparently the image of the angry, punishing, castrating Father seems less threatening than the destructive Mother--perhaps because she symbolized the inexorable reality of death, whereas he only postulated a problematic post-mortem judgment. Perhaps this is one reason the Roman Catholics maintain the teaching of purgatory, to divert the final end. The full importance of the profound meaning of the functions of Kali as the live-giver, preserver, and destroyer have been dismissed or destroyed over the centuries, as have been the aspects of other manifestations of the goddess. Many western interpretations of Kali in art and literature just depict the destructive aspect of this goddess, which tend to portray her as fearsome and evil. In the London Museum is an image of her which is labeled "Kali-Destroying Demon." The Encyclopedia Britannica devotes five columns to the Christian interpretation of the Logos and dismisses Kali's part in the creation of the world. This deity is mentioned in a brief paragraph as the consort of Shiva, and "a goddess of disease." In Hinduism Kali's three functions are assigned to the gods: Brahma, the creator; Vishnu, the preserver; and Shiva, the destroyer. It is noted that Vishnu, who is thought to have brought the world out of the primal abyss, wrote the following about Kali: "Maternal cause of all change, manifestation, and destruction... the whole Universe rests upon Her, rises out of Her and melts into Her. From Her crystallized the original elements and qualities which construct the apparent world. She is both mother and grave... The gods themselves are merely constructs out of Her maternal substance, which is both consciousness and potential joy." As a Mother, Kali was called Treasure-House of Compassion (karuna), Giver of Life to the World, the Life of all lives. Despite the popular western belief that she is just a Goddess of destruction, she is the fount of every kind of love, which flows into the world through women, her agents on earth. Thus, it is said of a male worshipper of Kali, "bows down at the feet of women," regarding them as his rightful teachers. Some say the name Eve perhaps originated from Kali's leva or Jiva, the primordial female principle of manifestation; she gave birth to her "first manifested form" and called him Idam (Adam). She also bore the same title given to Eve in the Old Testament: Mother of All Living (Jaganmata). Although referred to as "the One," Kali was always a trinity Goddess: Virgin, Mother, and Crone. This triad formed perhaps nine or ten millennia ago has been manifested in many cultures: the Celts with their triple Morrigan, the Greeks with their triple Moerae, the Norsemen with their Norms, the Romans with their Fates and triadic Uni (Juno), the Egyptians with their triple Mut, and the Arabian Moon-goddess. Kali can be identified everywhere. Her trinity is recognized in the Christian triple Godhead; some conclude this Godhead is all male, not nothing that in the Hebrew Old Testament the word for Spirit, ruwach, was of feminine gender. Blood sacrifice was important in the worship of Kali as they were in the worship of the early Biblical God, the commanded that the blood must be poured on his alters (Exodus 29:16) for the remission of sins (Numbers 18:9), but there were differences. Jewish priests ate the sacrificial meat themselves whereas the devotees of Kali were permitted to eat their own offerings as in Calcutta. Kali demanded only male animals be sacrificed; a custom dating back to the primitive belief that the male had no part in the cycle of generation. The god Shiva, Kali's sacrificial spouse, commanded that female animals must not be slain on the altar. Kali was the Ocean of Blood at the beginning of the world; she might be said to be the primordial mass from which all life arouse; and her ultimate destruction of the universe is prefigured by the destruction of each individual, though her karmic wheel always brought reincarnation. After death came nothing-at-all, which Tantric sages called the third of three states of being; to experience it was like the experience of Dreamless Sleep. This state was also called "the Generative Womb of All, the Beginning and End of Beings." Kali devoured Time, she resumed her "dark formlessness," which appeared in all myths of before-creation and after-doomsday as elemental Chaos. The Tantric worshippers of Kali readily acknowledged and accepted her Curse; they willing accepted her terror of death as well as they accepted her beautiful, nurturing, maternal aspect. They knew the coin of life has two sides, life and death; one cannot exist without the other. Kali's sages communed with her in the grisly atmosphere of the cremation ground, to become familiar with the images of death. Her devotee would say, "His Goddess, his loving Mother, in time who gives him birth and loves him in the flesh, she also destroys him in the flesh. His image of Her is incomplete if he does not know her as his tearer and devourer." The name Kali Ma comes from Kalma, a hunter of tombs and eater of the dead, as she was called in Finland, also called the Black Goddess. European "witches" worshipped her in funeral places, for the same reasons, that the Tantric yogis and dakinis worshipped her in cremation grounds, as Smashana-Kali, Lady of the Dead. Former pagans adored her in cemeteries as the Black Mother Earth, where the Roman tombstones invoked her with the phrase Mater genuit, Mother receipt-the Mother bore me, the Mother took me back. Sometimes Kali, the Destroyer, wore red symbolizing the blood of the life that that she gave and took back: "as She devours all existence, as She chews all things existing with Her fierce teeth, therefore a mass of blood is imagined to be the apparel of the Queen of the Gods at the final dissolution." The gypsies in their worship of Kali, the Goddess of disease, clothed her in red, the proper color of gypsy funerals. A.G.H.

is the act of accusing, denouncing, attacking or persecuting an individual or group as communist,^[1] socialist, or anarchist, or sympathic toward communism,^[2] socialism, or anarchism. The word "red" in "red-baiting" is derived from the red flag signifying radical left-wing politics.^[3] The term "red-baiting" dates to at least 1928.^[1] In United States history, red-baiting is most often associated with McCarthyism, which had its origins in the two historic Red Scare periods of the 1920s (First Red Scare) and 1950s (Second Red Scare).^[4]

Red-baiting was employed in opposition to anarchists in the United States as early as the late 1870s when businessmen, religious leaders and editorial writers tried to rally middle class workers to oppose dissident railroad workers and again during the Haymarket affair in the mid-1880s. Red-baiting was well established in the U.S. during the decade before World War I. In the post-war period of 1919-1921 the U.S. government employed it as a central tactic in dealing with labor radicals, anarchists, communists, and foreign agents. These actions in reaction to the First Red Scare, served as part of the organizing principle shaping counter-revolutionary policies and serving to institutionalize anti-communism as a force in American politics.^[5]
The period between the first and second Red Scares was relatively calm owing to the success of government anti-communism, the suppressive effects of New Deal policies on radical organized labor, and the patriotism associated with total mobilization during World War II.^[5] Red-baiting reemerged in the late 1940s and early 1950s during the period known as the Second Red Scare due to mounting Cold War tensions and the spread of communism abroad. U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy's controversial red-baiting of suspected communists and communist sympathizers in the U.S. Department of State, and the creation of an entertaintment industry blacklist, led to the term “McCarthyism” being coined to signify any type of reckless political persecution or witch-hunt.^[6]
The history of anti-communist red-baiting in general and McCarthyism in particular continues to be hotly debated, and the political divisions this controversy creates continue to make themselves felt. Conservative critics contend that revelations such as the Venona project decryptions and the FBI Silvermaster File at least mute if not outright refute the charge that red-baiting in general was unjustified.^[7][8] Historian Nicholas von Hoffman wrote in The Washington Post that evidence revealed in the Venona project forced him to admit that McCarthy was "closer to the truth than those who ridiculed him".^[9]
Liberal critics contend that, even if it was proven that the U.S. government was infiltrated by Soviet spies, McCarthy was censured by the U.S. Senate because he was in fact reckless and politically opportunistic, and his red-baiting ruined the lives of countless innocent persons.^[10] Historian Ellen Schrecker wrote that "in this country, McCarthyism did more damage to the constitution than the American Communist Party ever did."^[11]

In the 21st century, red-baiting does not have quite the same effect it previously did due to the fall of Soviet-style Communism,^[12] but notable events in 21st century American politics indicates a resurgence of red-baiting consistent with the 1950s.^[13] Political activist and author Tim Wise argues that the emergence of red-baiting may be motivated by racism towards U.S. President Barack Obama and fear that the progressive policies of his administration will erode white privilege in the United States.^[13]
Red-baiting was used^{[citation needed]} by John McCain, Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States election, when he argued that Democratic nominee and current president Obama's improvised comments on wealth redistribution to “Joe the Plumber” was a promotion of “socialism”. American journalist David Remnick, who wrote the biography The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama,^[14] countered that it should now be obvious that after one year in office Obama is a centre-left president and the majority of his policies are in line with the center-left Democrat tradition.^[15]
In April 2009, Spencer Bachus claimed that 17 of his Congressional colleagues were socialists, but would only name one, Bernie Sanders, who has been openly describing himself as a democratic socialist for years.^[16] Sanders countered that American conservatives blur the differences between socialism and communism, between democracy and totalitarianism. He argued that the United States would benefit from a serious debate about comparing the quality of life for the middle class in the U.S. and in Nordic countries with a long social-democratic tradition like Sweden, Norway, and Finland.^[17]
In May 2009, a number of conservative members of the Republican National Committee were pressing the committee and by extension, RNC chairman Michael Steele, to officially adopt the position that the Democratic Party is socialist. Over a dozen members of the conservative wing of the RNC submitted a new resolution, to be eventually voted on by the entire RNC, that would call on the Democratic party to rename itself the “Democrat Socialist Party.” If the RNC adopted this resolution, the RNC’s official view would become that Democrats are socialists.^[18]

On Wednesday 20 May 2009, supporters of the resolution instead agreed to accept language urging Democrats to "stop pushing our country towards socialism and government control", thus ending a fight within the ranks of the Republican Party that reflected the divide between those who want a more centrist message and those seeking a more aggressive, conservative voice,^[20] such as the one expressed by the Tea Party movement. Frank Llewellyn, national director of Democratic Socialists of America, argued that Republicans never really define what they mean by “socialism” and are simply engaging in the politics of fear.^[21]
In July 2009, talk show host Glenn Beck began to devote what would become many episodes on his TV and radio shows, focusing on President Obama's Director of White House Council on Environmental Quality, Van Jones. Beck was especially critical of Jones' involvement in STORM, a far-left groupuscule of professional revolutionaries and therefore referred to him as a "communist-anarchist radical".^[22] In September 2009, Jones resigned his position in the Obama administration, after a number of his past statements became fodder for conservative critics and Republican officials.^[22] Time magazine credited Beck with leading conservatives' attack on Jones,^[23] which Jones would characterize a "vicious smear campaign" and an effort to use "lies and distortions to distract and divide".^[24]

There are many styles of martial arts.  One is karate, which is Japanese.  The various styles of karate are Hawian kenpo, Shorin Ryu, Shotokan, and kenpo.  There is judo also as well as monkey, praying mantis, dragon, and snake kung fu.  There is also jo-do, which is staff fighting.  There is ninjitsu, which includes weapons (shuriken and sword fighting) and ninpo-tai-jutsu.  There is also Tae-kwon-do (Korean martial art).

Democracy Vs. Kings

Democracy guarantees rights to the states and the people.  It is in the Bill of Rights.  Kings can be despots, and a dictator is just like a kingship without a royal line.  Egypt had kings, Israel had them, Babylon had them, Rome had emperors,  Charlemange was the one in control of the "holy Roman Empire", England had kings and queens.  Hitler, Mousalini and Stalin were despots, and Stalin was revered in Russia (USSR) until Glastnos and Peristroikia.  America was unique in 1776.  It was the first republic, first under the articles of confederation, and in 1881, under the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, guaranteeing, of many things, free speech, free press and freedom of religion.  There is also a separation of powers in the USA - Legislative, Executive (The President), and Judicial, and no president is above the law in this country.  The Constitution was designed to both protect this nation from the tyrany of the minority and the tyrany of the majority.

About the Goddess and God's dark sides

The Lady and Lord do have their dark sides as well as their kind, gentle sides.  The Goddess's dark side manifests in tornados and earthquakes.  The God's dark side manifests as "the Bogey Man"  or something like Freddy Kruger, something like what was in the "Exorcist" or "Jason" from Friday the 13th.  Our horror movies are full of the God's dark side, and a movie like Earthquake or Airport '77 are examples of the Goddess's dark side.  On a lighter note, the God manifests his dark side as Bart Simpson, and the Goddess manifests hers as Marge Simpson's sisters.

About the relationship between Christians and Wiccans

Before I go into this, not all pagans are Wiccans, but all Wiccans are Pagan.  We Wiccans and I am only mentioning Wiccans because I am only Wiccan.  We mean you Christians no harm.  We do care about the earth and please Christians, do pray for and help the rainforests, oceans, our wetlands and our trees.  We all share this planet together.  I know that Native American beliefs are pagan belief also.  Most Wiccans like to have stone circles and nature preserves for places of worship.  We are just differerent, and we are not against you in any way.  We do not sell our souls to demons or a devil in any way.

The importance of labor unions and competition

Labor unions are important.  They ensure freedom in the workplace.  Many unions police themselves.  When I say this, the unions ensure that they do quality control.  Labor unions also help competition in markets, and workers can sometimes come up with briliant ideas.  An important union function is keeping management from taking advantage of workers by having an important weapon - the strike and the picket line.

Competition in the market place is important because it ensures lower prices, fights inflation without price fixing and ensures quality of the products and goods and services.

• Sixth Amendment – Trial by jury and rights of the accused; Confrontation Clause, speedy trial, public trial, right to counsel

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

• Seventh Amendment – Civil trial by jury.

In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

• Eighth Amendment – Prohibition of excessive bail and cruel and unusual punishment.

• Ninth Amendment – Protection of rights not specifically enumerated in the Constitution.

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

• Tenth Amendment – Powers of States and people.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

To the Pagan/Wiccan Community

All magic comes back to you threefold.  It does, whether good or evil (good or bane).  It is very unethical to harm anyone magically.  Even a love spell that is cast to manipulate a man or woman to fall in love with the caster causes problems in the relationship.  A demonic conjuration especially comes back threefold.  There is really no harm in kidding about "things that go bump in the night".  When I talk about that, I mean like vampires, ghosts, Frankenstien's monster, the "Wolf man", etc.  That is just Halloween humor.  Bad things a person does (or good things for that matter) simply catch up with you.  You know, what goes around comes around.

About communism

Really, communism does not necessarilly mean a totaltarian state or nation.  Rember, Nazi philosophy believes in a totaltarian state too.

What universalism is (and is not)

Uses for hemp (marijuana)

First of all, marijuana can be used as a sedative.  It also has other healing properties.  Hemp can be used to make 4 times per pound for paper as trees do.  It cam be used for fuel and clothing as well.  Hemp oil can be used for plastics.

The reason hemp is illegal is due to the major alcohol and tobacco companies lobbying against it, particularly RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris, as well as Budweiser and Coors beer.

Cyberspace consists of transactions, relationships, and thought itself, arrayed like a standing wave in the web of our communications. Ours is a world that is both everywhere and nowhere, but it is not where bodies live.

We are creating a world that all may enter without privilege or prejudice accorded by race, economic power, military force, or station of birth.

We are creating a world where anyone, anywhere may express his or her beliefs, no matter how singular, without fear of being coerced into silence or conformity.

Your legal concepts of property, expression, identity, movement, and context do not apply to us. They are all based on matter, and there is no matter here.

Our identities have no bodies, so, unlike you, we cannot obtain order by physical coercion. We believe that from ethics, enlightened self-interest, and the commonweal, our governance will emerge . Our identities may be distributed across many of your jurisdictions. The only law that all our constituent cultures would generally recognize is the Golden Rule. We hope we will be able to build our particular solutions on that basis. But we cannot accept the solutions you are attempting to impose.

In the United States, you have today created a law, the Telecommunications Reform Act, which repudiates your own Constitution and insults the dreams of Jefferson, Washington, Mill, Madison, DeToqueville, and Brandeis. These dreams must now be born anew in us.

You are terrified of your own children, since they are natives in a world where you will always be immigrants. Because you fear them, you entrust your bureaucracies with the parental responsibilities you are too cowardly to confront yourselves. In our world, all the sentiments and expressions of humanity, from the debasing to the angelic, are parts of a seamless whole, the global conversation of bits. We cannot separate the air that chokes from the air upon which wings beat.

In China, Germany, France, Russia, Singapore, Italy and the United States, you are trying to ward off the virus of liberty by erecting guard posts at the frontiers of Cyberspace. These may keep out the contagion for a small time, but they will not work in a world that will soon be blanketed in bit-bearing media.

Your increasingly obsolete information industries would perpetuate themselves by proposing laws, in America and elsewhere, that claim to own speech itself throughout the world. These laws would declare ideas to be another industrial product, no more noble than pig iron. In our world, whatever the human mind may create can be reproduced and distributed infinitely at no cost. The global conveyance of thought no longer requires your factories to accomplish.

These increasingly hostile and colonial measures place us in the same position as those previous lovers of freedom and self-determination who had to reject the authorities of distant, uninformed powers. We must declare our virtual selves immune to your sovereignty, even as we continue to consent to your rule over our bodies. We will spread ourselves across the Planet so that no one can arrest our thoughts.

We will create a civilization of the Mind in Cyberspace. May it be more humane and fair than the world your governments have made before.

About the Green Party

Somtimes. the Green Party votes Republicam or supports a war when that war is a just war.

• A just war can only be waged as a last resort. All non-violent options must be exhausted before the use of force can be justified.
• A war is just only if it is waged by a legitimate authority. Even just causes cannot be served by actions taken by individuals or groups who do not constitute an authority sanctioned by whatever the society and outsiders to the society deem legitimate.
• A just war can only be fought to redress a wrong suffered. For example, self-defense against an armed attack is always considered to be a just cause (although the justice of the cause is not sufficient--see point #4). Further, a just war can only be fought with "right" intentions: the only permissible objective of a just war is to redress the injury.
• A war can only be just if it is fought with a reasonable chance of success. Deaths and injury incurred in a hopeless cause are not morally justifiable.
• The ultimate goal of a just war is to re-establish peace. More specifically, the peace established after the war must be preferable to the peace that would have prevailed if the war had not been fought.
• The violence used in the war must be proportional to the injury suffered. States are prohibited from using force not necessary to attain the limited objective of addressing the injury suffered.
• The weapons used in war must discriminate between combatants and non-combatants. Civilians are never permissible targets of war, and every effort must be taken to avoid killing civilians. The deaths of civilians are justified only if they are unavoidable victims of a deliberate attack on a military target.

I know this is a hard pill to swallow for peace-loving Greens, but it might save this planet.

A story about Yuletide (Christmas spirit)

This is from my own life.  A guy hit me in the nose, causing a nosebleed and first I was going to beat the crap out of him for it, then I calmed down and was thinking of pressing charges for assault.  I decided to let it go because it was the holidays (after Thanksgiving)
